Winter Jackets - Autumn/Winter 2014/15

As we rolled into 2015, the introduction of frost on our cars and ice on the roads gives us a clear indication that winter has only just started. December felt like the tropics, and for those of us lucky enough to go on a snowboarding holiday, we've been waiting and praying for snow on the mountains. Sure we've all wrapped up warm during the christmas period, sinking a few beers at the xmas markets whilst showing off your new winter coat is what its all about, but for some of us, winter has only just begun! With our store focus on the fashion side of boardsport culture, we have a great selection of winter jackets that will not only keep you warm, but make you look good as well. Lets face it not all of us want to be wandering around in our snowboard jackets all the time! Featuring brands like WeSC, Makia, BRTN and Analog, we tested all of our styles in the cold elements and have detailed some of them below for you.

WeSC Jeremie Bomber Jacket

Taking a similar silhouette to the famous Balker Sweat from WeSC, this bomber style jacket definitely has a more premium feel to it. Sure its not going to keep you warm whilst hiking the lake district, but its ideal for a more casual occasion. For the price, the waxed cotton twill finish is complemented by a luxurious lining and WeSC metal badge overlay on the chest. Looks rad with a button down shirt and jeans! Jeremie

BRTN Bronx Coach Jacket

Coach jackets are a wonderful thing, you can pretty much wear them doing anything. These multifunctional jackets work wonders on the mountain, streets, skating or even taking your dog for a walk. This little number from BRTN keeps it simple leaving the all black finish with an all black embossed logo on the chest. What I've found is that for such great value, this particular coach is much better quality than others on the market at a similar price. Why? Well it has a flannel lining for added warm, snap up buttons down the centre which stay locked in, and something which you will rarely find on others at the moment...a drawstring hem! So take my word for it, this is one coach jacket that you won't be disappointed with. Bronx 1

 Makia Fishtail Jacket

Fishtail Now Makia have been making some of the strongest jackets in the game for a long time now, and this fishtail parka is no exception! By supporting everything in the Finnish lifestyle like fishing, chopping down trees, cycling and hiking, whilst also battling the cold elements, you can pretty much guarantee the Fishtail jacket will be built like a bomb shelter. Probably one of the more durable coats I tried on, this little number features a quality waxed cotton finish, complimented by two huge button down pockets and drawstring pulleys on the hood and hem. Its more of a slim fit, so looks awesome with pretty much anything, but will also do you justice in the colder weather.

 WeSC Elder Hooded Parka

The second WeSC coat we range this winter, and probably the warmest! If your like a lot of people and really feels the cold even when its 20 degrees, then this is the coat for you. Considering the weather at the moment, and when I tried it on outside, I couldn't feel a thing. This is a super cosy coat and the reason for this is the plush fleece lining on the inside which makes it extra warm and soft. Considering its a WeSC design from Sweden, you can guarantee its going to look good as well. One thing the brand does excellently is mix aesthetics with functionality, and they have done it here with the elder jacket. Little cool features like the leather woven patch on the arm, hidden snap buttons and wax coating on the shoulders and back just make this piece look even more premium. Elder

BRTN Chevron Shirt Style Jacket

Another classic design from the BRTN collection, and possibly my favourite of the bunch, is the Chevron jacket. Silhouetting a collared shirt design with chevrons on the shoulders, this piece is perfect for dressing up or down. These types of coats look spot on with a button down shirt when your taking your missus for a meal or just great to throw on when your going for a pint of milk. Much like WeSC, BRTN have mixed aesthetics with functionality extremely well and you're getting a lot of bang for your buck in this jacket. It has a 'DRYRIDE Mist-Defy 100% Cotton Shell Fabric with Acrylic Coating' (if your confused, its basically an awesome fabric thats pretty much waterproof), and one of the raddest liners I've seen! If you buy it I'm sure you'll agree with me. Chevron

Analog 3L Full Zip Hooded Jacket

Now I was a little confused when this jacket came into stock. Is it a hoody? Is it a jacket? Unsure what category to place it in until I got it out of the cellophane and tried it on. Aimed directly at the snowboarders out there, its purposely built the way it is for riding, however thats not to say you can't wear it off the hill. With a whole bunch of technical features like 5k/5k TPU dot lamination, DWR coating, polyester 3 layer stretch fabric, perforated pit vents and rib cuffs with thumbholes, its definitely going to keep you dry and warm for the colder months. It's not in the same league as a full on £200 technical jacket which you can wear pretty much on its own (and its not meant to be priced at £100), and I would recommend layering up underneath, but this shell type jacket blows every other one I've ever seen or worn out the water.
